>wanting to feel connected with a "community"
No thank you. I don't want to know and be known to my neighbours and I don't want to recognise and be recognised by people on the street. I definitely don't want to have to ingratiate myself into a small and suffocating network of social bonds in order to take care of my basic needs.
At the same time, I hate strangers and would prefer that they have no legitimate reason for coming anywhere near my house. Also, mixed-use areas are eyesores and I do not want to see commercial signage or parking lots within strolling distance of where I live.
Suburbia is the apex of comfortable living, as long as there are local parks with green grass and trees on the lawns to hide the unfortunate fact that other people live near you.

What is a good romance book that I can read with my gf? What are some /lit/ approves romance stories? Tragedies or not, just something that gets the correct feels.
