You have to let the pretentiousness go mate. When you listen to /mu/core album you just have to assume that they're the best dumb musicians out there.
HANL is not even that, Dan Barrett is just one of the smartest guys who know how to play 4 chords, GY!BE are the smartest guys who can play 7th chords.
