have you ever expressed any emotion in an intense manner? Weeping uncontrollably, screaming out of the top of your lungs in anger, maybe even destroying stuff around you; laughing so much you dropped in the ground gasping for air; holding your breath and opened your eyes wide in pure awe or shock, standing there for a long time; shaking and peeing yourself because you were terrified?
"How is this /lit/ related" you might ask? well, sometimes when I'm reading and one of the characters act in such an emotional way; I can't help to ask myself if that is the way people used to be, the only emotional outbursts I've seen from people are those of anger.

In the midst of an existential crisis, I asked for book recommendations to help. I was recommended a few, and bought Schopenhauer's The World As Will and Idea, Albert Camus' The Myth Of Sisyphus, and Fear and Trembling by Kierkegaard. I know if I should begin with philosophy here, and I know that if I read this I should probably read much more to flesh out my understanding, so here I am. Where should I begin (is here ok?), by reading these, how much of my life might I spend fleshing out my understanding of the can of whup ass I'm opening up? To be clear I'm not even well read, so if there is more to know before diving into this, do help.

Pretty inexperienced writer here. My main concept revolves around a character who runs over someone by accident, and due to profound shock he goes into full denial and fully convinces himself that he wasn't responsible for said death, but later on turns himself in.

I basically want to explore the horror of intense guilt and the extremes of escapism. I want to be ambitious with it but I'm afraid it might end up sounding like pretentious Poe-wannabe subversive, high schooler-level trash.

Yeah I mean who really cares about Ingsoc anyway. Things are easier to think now. Yes. yes.

I actually can't think of anything more horrifying than being unable to properly vocalize what I want to say. You fucking faggot. Please take in a bigger picture. I love you.

In her AmA she said this novel was groundbreaking bc it has a primarily female cast in a sci-fi setting. Take that as you will. I would not take it as such personally.

Definitely middle. Anyone published in the New Yorker is by definition middle-brow.

Malcolm Gladwell is the king of middle-brow non-fiction.

Pic related: middle-brows love this shit.

In the prologue, before you even know who he is like Humbert Humbert.

Or happily in his sleep at the end like Oblomov.

Hey. This post is for an apology. Addressing the guy whom earlier today put up a post describing us his life circumstances and asking for advice.
I apologize. I didn't mean to explode like that on you. Your lack of experience on living with unfortunate circumstances provoked an emotion in me that caused an anger outburst which ultimately spurred my judgment upon you. I understand your sorrows and will tell you that it must be okay, that you must keep pushing forward and that on one of these future days you may emerge victorious.

Is there a place for downloading academic books (preferably history) that is anywhere near as reliable as #bookz? I'm looking for Fergus Millar specifically but require much more in future. Any ideas or places I don't know about for this?

I'm new to being "into" literature, and I've been wondering: How does one consume plays without having a theatre available? Do you read it like any other writing, or do you watch a recording, or do you do something else?
