Does any other book have these kinds of effects on people? What other books can I read to power up?

I'm not a religious person but have always wanted to read it since it's one of the most impactful books in the western world. When I wanted to pick it up I discovered that there are many versions out there, sometimes varying wildly from one another.
Which one would /lit/ recommend?

Read the Bible dozens of times and memorise parts of the Bible first before deciding to participate in Orthodox Spirituality. And do so in a Holy way, not secretly with your face hidden on this image board/chan culture wicked juvenile idolatry full of hate and disgusting things.

It’s better even to do it physically, in person. That is the most ideal and you have to do the Will of Christ’s first calling, to take care of the poor, sick, needy and widows at the same time, since that is the innate duties/responsibilities of christians

What are some lesser known stories in The Bible that people are generally less familiar with?
A lot of the post-pentateuch books of the Old Testament don’t get a lot of love.

Can I get a quick rundown on this book? Never read it, but I know a lot of Christians and I love them, so I thought that I might give it a try.

For the uninitiated: US primary/secondary education is ranked by grades corresponding with age. So a book written at a third grade level is written for nine year olds, twelfth grade is for age eighteen. It’s rare to see widely available books written beyond that.

Essentially I’m looking for big brain Bibles, only for those of us in the elite (IQ 115+).

I assume it’ll be KJV or Douay–Rheims, although I was surprised NRSV was a strong contender rather than a pretender.

>try to find one but apparently there are different editions all calling themselves the Cambridge edition
What do? What's the ideal KJV 1769 Cambridge edition? I'm trying to find an ebook and I can't.

Hate to hit ya with the most obvious answer, but my study Bible is the most personally significant book I possess. It’s an anniversary reprint of the edition my grandfather used, as did his father. It’s one of a few texts you can pore over every day and still find something new.

I'm thinking of becoming a Christian; which English version of the Bible should I read until I can read without subtitles? I'm mostly interested in Catholicism specifically

This book is absolutely not worth reading for the purposes of edification, least of all in its entirety. Anyone who suggests you read this for a foundation of literary knowledge is actually just a Christian trying to get his foot in the door. Judges is a comedy of errors where everyone is improbably retarded, Job has the most simplistic message possible, ecclesiastes is like a Nihlism resolved in a shear copout. The same 7 parables get recycled over and over, mostly about husbandry and entirely redundant one to another. The parable of the potter is especially retarded because the message could not be simpler and the allegory is irrelevant to thinking, feeling conscious beings. The only thing you might find is the odd idiom like "there's nothing new under the sun" or "set ones teeth on edge".
