I check to make sure nobody is around and just groan her name. It helps, it's like swearing. I don't think about her too much, I just have nightmares about her sometimes.

I dreamt about her little feet poking out from under the hem of her dress and woke up in a panic. I have a lot of nightmares these days, almost every night. All sorts of horrors: war, plague, torturers. Sometimes I don't even dream about her but other girls from a long time ago, like sand from a lake bottom getting all stirred up again when you take another step.

Come to think of it I've had the same exhilarating, terrifying, girl-dream several times over the course of a decade. It's a special dream and I cherish the memory of it as well as a few other "Signifying" dreams.
