All description should "always" have some allegory/symbolism connected with either the plot or chapter or immediate sensation/motion that cause the observation.
If the POV notices something that's either important or something distracting.
If the POV smells something instead of hearing something else, or something.

Point is to convey perceived value. We either notice that which we care about/long for/connected to the thing we think about or that which is highly distracting/stands out.

Take pic related.
What's the first you notice?
Giants?
Slave giants?
Traders?
Pretty high walls?
Maybe bleakness and dread?
Fear cause they're fucking huge?
Freedom?
Maybe you reminisce of your past.
Maybe you don't notice at all cause it's not new to the pov, then you have another in "party" or nearby, someone candid, ask something obtuse about the poor giants.
