Once when doing a paper on Duchamp I saw that Debord had been quoted as calling one of Duchamp's stunts 'old-hat'. I smiled when I saw that, both because I assumed the Debord would be above those sort of egotistical turf-wars, and because the expression itself derives its meaning from something being out of style, which itself one of the main ways that the spectacle entrances people, highly ironic for Debord to use that insult!
