I'm not interested in overt projections of the super ego into the sky as a literal "heavenly father". Such illusions are, themselves, extremely childish. By definition, they are infantilizing. What's worse, it seems your only defense for such a belief is "heritage" which is perhaps the worst reason to adopt a belief of any kind. Do you not critically assess your own beliefs for yourself or do you just onboard whatever beliefs your family happens to have?

Personally I want people to be better off, to be building towards something better, for each generation to work to create something better than they had for their children, incrementally getting closer and closer to "utopia" while recognizing the actual attainment of such a thing is impossible. But each step matters in terms of securing the basic material needs for people to live the good life.

When examining the trend of human civilization, some things stand out. First is the manifest problem of the centralization of resources. We have witnessed an absolute explosion in terms of production capacity, information proliferation, in short all the advancement of technology. What has followed from this? An unbelievable concentration of power into the hands of fewer and fewer people. Economically, in the wealthiest nation on Earth, just a couple dozen people control more economic power than the majority of the population combined. Labor compensation has been on a 50 year trend downwards, meaning it's more unaffordable to become a homeowner now than at any time in the past 3 generations.

What is the solution to this? Decentralization. If you examine the core of each successful country, decentralization is an indispensable value. It's the reasoning behind democracy and each person having a vote. It's the driving principal behind free markets, the idea that each person can build up their own capital and dispose of it as they see fit. The problem is people like OP, sociopaths who view these systems as opportunities to enrich themselves, who have no regard for the actual well being of their fellow man.

I believe a decentralization of the truth is equally important. People ought to be able to discover the truth and not shy away from it, and that truth is this: every manifestation of religion is rooted in human psychology. It's not an insight into the deep fabric of reality and the divine. It's only an insight into the psychology of man and the social dynamics attendant on that. Thus, when we see people address a literal "Heavenly Father", we need to recognize that this is explicitly a call to enfantalize and degrade people, to restrict them forever to the status of a child, to forever dwell in a state of subjugation, to never rise above the mentality and morality of a child. To bar adults from the task of every mature person to consider matters critically for themselves. To consider what kind of society they want to live in, to consider whether it's fair that their only means of survival is to sell labor at prices around half the buying power of just 40 years ago. To consider whether they agree that the wealth of the nation they live in should be monopolized by a few capital interests. Whether they want to be indentured servants, no more than serfs, or if they want to stand on their own feet, on their own land, and partake of the fruits of their labor, of the fruits of their nation. The first step is emancipation from illusions.

The genie is out of the bottle. Religion is just a utilitarian cope for problems that arise within complex psychological systems. I mean, how obvious does it get when the object of worship and obedience is literally called the "Heavenly Father"? Time to grow up and put away childish things.

The only Zany and Whacky thing is that there are still so many people operating under the God Delusion. If you can't recognize and transcend your own internal childish desire for a powerful daddy figure in the sky to protect and love you while also demanding worship and subservience, that's your own failing. Religion is a psychological and anthropological phenomenon, not actual knowledge.

>Seething this hard over "putting away childish things"
When you continue to believe in a literal "Heavenly Father" who wields total authority over you and demands your worship under threat of punishment, you are a perpetual child.

>Unironically using the word "scientism"
Theists basically need to oppose rational exploration of the material word because theism itself requires the belief in phenomenon which is entirely schizophrenic. Classic case of projecting onto the opponent your own faults, God is man-made, an illusion, but because the believer has a deep psychological need for a father figure to worship and be dominated by, he must do everything he can to shore up this belief, and since this belief is completely absurd in relation to reality, he must eschew natural science in preference to mysticism, which can conveniently always be manipulated to fit whatever context is required at the time. It's the most elementary form of intellectual dishonesty, but the highest irony is that the believer is so deluded he won't be able to comprehend this. Freud was right, read pic related.

The Freudian connection of projecting a literal father figure in the sky who threatens punishments and demands worship is just too rich to be ignored. The phrase "sky daddy" can be thrown around a lot, but you have to admit the extremely lurid psychological implications of believing in a "heavenly father" like the one in Christianity.
