I mainly read genre fiction for the last 12 years (I'm 20 now).
But I think I start discovering the beauty of language. It might sound strange but well build sentences feel so good while reading. Sometimes it's so good I have to put the book or poem away to think about it. It's not because of some great insight in phillosophy structures, but because of the mood I'm suddenly in, really dunno.

Since I'm German, poetry I read is exclusively written by Schiller and Heyse. Love them.

School related I had to go through Kafka and Goethe but I'm too dumb to understand them and I dislike them both.

I've read translations of the the obvious stuff like The Plague, 1984, Moby Dick, Measuring the World, Perfume (German, tho). Those are great.

Tried shakespear, had to laugh so much because the stories are ridiculous. Again I think I'm not smart enough to understand him, yet.

I can't enjoy most of the "bestseller" books shown in the front of book stores. Really boring, level of language is high school tier, not creative at all, no new ideas, characters are shallow. I drop them the moment I read a list of personality aspects, ie.
>Mr. Willingsborth was a well fed man with white, thin hair, an alcoholic red nose and could get angry very fast Forgive my english skills, please, I hope you know what I mean.

Hope that sums it up.
