Why are Academics so Obsessed with Doctrines? All I hear is -isms : Materialism, Idealism -- just -isms -- and -ians : Kantian, Hegelian, Cartesian -- just -ians.
Worse yet are the terms, like Hermeneutic, Analytic, Synthetic ; language -- just language.
Academics seem like show offs and name droppers, rearing a new generation of the same. It's all name dropping, name ordering, establishing relations and knowing history. It's a meme at this point, but -- it's rare to see people actually do something new, take the risks of failing and being 'that guy' -- being shown as the inexpirienced pseud most people are at heart, can only leave behind by failing.

Academics really refers to a particular subset of people, not all -- not at all, but these people seem to get the most exposure by being pseuds at heart. Although they are experts and know the subject matter better than anyone here -- me at least -- they just feel this need to correct and establish themselves; it's branded into them like some cursed sign.
