how du you keep a meditation routine? A few years ago I meditated every morning and kept it up for about a year. Now I’ve been struggling to get back in the routine. When in the day do you prefer to meditate? How did you start your routine?

>Got any books on the subject
I gave you a link to a wikipedia article, you can pick your own literature out of there for starters. The only correct path is the one you choose yourself, it cannot be chosen for you.

It is correct to say that metaphysics is the only science that matters because it explains all the rest of the sciences?

>How delusional, or toxic, do you need to be to believe this?
You just need to have enough experience living.

>People doing other things can be just as broken. In fact, you might be fucked up based on your other responses. How do you know that everyone involved in porn is unhappy? To some it's just a job and after shooting they go home and act similar to you.
Sure, a lot of people are broken. But people in porn are broken more often than most.

How can Buddhists be so nihilistic while maintaining love and compassion? Aren't they mutually exclusive?

Are there any other Buddhists ITT?

I know it's pretty much a given that these threads tend to be bad for practice or whatever, but you're here forever and whatnot.

Theravada master race, btw.

What are some good books that tell the history of Buddhism from the life of the Buddha to the spread of his teachings?

I've heard Old Path White Clouds is pretty good, but I'm cautious about anything written by Thich Nhat Hanh.

>But that was literally your claim.
I wasnt making a big deal out of it I was just pointing out that you were wrong. It is incorrect to assume that not knowing the outcome of something makes the likelihood of either possibility 50/50

>This tells me that you're spineless
what does that have anything to do with being spineless, lol

>If your consciousness is illusroy, why isn't your neighbor's? If your neighbor's mind is an illusion, why bother helping him out of poverty?

you're neighbors is as well according to Buddhas teachings. Indeed helping them out of poverty is a positive action however it is irrelevant to the fact of the suffering of oneself. According to Buddha the realization of the illusionary nature of the self and the accompanying cessation of suffering is more pertinent then helping someone else out of poverty, which dosnt solve the problem of you're own suffering

Is Zen really a legitimate school of Buddhism? Or is it its own religion?
I ask because whenever I look into Zen, I see the ideas, koans, poetry, and so on of Zen monks and see Zen meditation practice, but when I look at any other form of Buddhism I see many more references to Buddha, the Buddhist teachings, Dhammapada, different forms of meditation, and so on. So, it would be easy for me to conclude that Zen is separate from Buddhism. Do you agree, /lit/?

The reason I ask is because I am thinking of seeking out instruction in Buddhism, but there are two places near me to learn. One is Zen; the other is Shambhala. I am unsure of which one to turn to.

What is the best book for a Buddhist to study? Note that it should be a book available in English. It may be one which is only about one sect of Buddhism, a general overview of quotes and teachings, or something else. It should NOT be an "introduction to Buddhism" book, rather something comparable to the Bible, for insight and education.

In order to be a buddhist, you must be born a buddhist. Buddhism is a state of inherently born state of mind, otherwhise becomming one creates desire, which creates expectations and ego
