Then it has traction and the thread starts in earnest. Sometimes you need to keep it simmering for a bit. Your audience is not just waiting for you 24/7. Further, opie should always be prepared to contribute. Usually opie is fully passive and will not even contribute to his own thread.

I could agree with this, except the combination of half-baked ideas does not mesh well with his half-baked prose. If his prose were better then the half-baked ideas would seem more "presented" rather than shoveled. Also, the importance of his abrupt endings would be more obvious as literary devices rather than just looking like he ran out of steam.
