Do you use any vocabulary resources? I made a bunch of word lists on dictionary.com which probably wasn't a good idea, I should move them somewhere else

Not Op.
You can make a long string of sentances that sound really nice about some random thing that has no bearing on the story or characters or what have you. But it's pointless if the thing you're writing about is pointless. But if you're writing about something that, in itself, has actual weight and importance to the work, then elaborate prose will elevate it.
Ex.
>A beautiful three paragraph description of a forest a man is walking through.
The forest is transitionary in the story. Only a path that the man walks through to get to somewhere else. In the long run, it has no bearing on him. No gravity. Thus, the long description is, though it may be excellent, useless and purple.
>A three paragraph long description of the land a man has found and decided to build a home on.
The house being is the primary subject, therefore any amount of beautiful description remains beautiful because it has purpose. To show his attachment to the land and immerse the reader in the setting.

Basically what I think Opie is saying is that prose is purple when it is purposeless, while beautiful writing requires a reason to be there. The sentences can be the same, but what they're about, the core, is what determines if it's cringe or based

>And Vinny even is barely qualified compared to Jose, since you barely even need to pay Jose and he never calls in sick or injured, not to mention would never even dream of unionizing on you.
So in a way, are Republicans actually right when they say that Democrats just want to use spics as slave labor?

>I've peered into it myself and I can see exactly why, it really does seem to be eerily accurate
Most Western astrology can ultimately be traced to Ptolemy (who was familiar with Egyptian and Chaldean astrology). It is mostly layed out in his Tetrabiblos, and he states very clearly that there is a strong seasonal component to the success of its predictions.

That is, a person's future temperament can be predicted by the season they were born in. For example, spending the early days of ones life in say Aries (March-April/ Spring), will make you energetic, as you are born in a time of abundance and that goes on to imprint your later psychology.

I believe astrological predictions should be judged purely on a statistical basis. That is, analyze the statistics of personality characteristics and date of birth. Don't try and refute it simply because it's not "science" or whatever, just do the analysis to test it. This has been done with mixed results, but here is one Psychology Today article on it (https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-decision-tree/201107/science-confirms-astrology).). Some large scale studies have found no relationship of astrological sign and personality, so it is really hard to say how accurate it is at this point in time.

Pretty funny considering how its roots are completely anti-left. In the Tetrabiblos I mention above (literally the foundational book of astrology), Ptolemy outlines how racial differences arise from differences in the seasons, climate, and history at different locations; he goes on about how Middle-Easterns are predisposed to being greedy and manipulative, for example
