You will love it!

So, right now, I'm reading Bulgakov's "The Master and Margarita." So far, the translation seems pretty good, if not a little off, simply because of the complexity of Russian. I'll admit, I've never read Faust or Pilate, though I'm vaguely familiar with both stories. Do I need to read them to understand this book?
Also, general Russian Literature discussion. I'll admit, I haven't read much beyond Dostoevsky, but I like it, and I'd like to get more into it.

I'm American, and I read a decent bit. I'm always working on a book, and I usually finish them in a week or two, depending on how busy my schedule is. Then I move on to a new book.

I'm friends with some intelligent people, and some less intelligent people. Some read for fun, some don't. I'm considered a faggot by some people who aren't my friends, but that probably has more to do with me being a faggot than it does my reading habits.

I've just finished reading The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov. I really liked it and now I'm a bit sad that it's all over. So I'd like to know if anyone can recommend anything just a bit similar to this? Or just a book you think I'd like based on the fact that I like Master and Margarita.

I have a friend who reads Russian and she likes this translation.

She's very picky about her translations too. I enjoyed the book immensely.

I know this book has a few fans on here, but there's a lot of different editions. Which translation would you recommend to someone picking it up for the first time?

Hey /lit/, anyone got a preferred translation of The Master and Margarita? I picked this one up without doing any research (Burgin/O'Connor) but if there's a consensus that a different one is better I'd like to return it before I mess up the spine.

From the title, I thought it would be a story about sadomasochism and alcohol told from the point of view of a prostitute or something, and then I get a story with talking cats and witches!
