My personal approach to the topic holds as much weight as the unjustified claims in that article.
[Citation needed] for the following:
“But the problem is that studies show men are more likely to read books that are written by other men; one study found that four out of five men said the last book they read was written by a dude.”
Oh and lets not forget this oh so subtle snipe at men:
“(Women don't discriminate by gender when it comes to literature. Interesting.)”
Way to go on that journalistic integrity and neutrality. Oh wait I forgot we aren’t on an actual news media site but an online propaganda engine.
Perhaps there are simply more male authors. Or perhaps genres that are preferentially read by men are also preferentially authored by men. But no, there is a correlation here so obviously we have detected the big bad patriarchy and they can prove it because all the articles they linked to on other feminist news sites agree with them.

I agree about the publishers pushing to use initials or pseudonyms being retarded but they are making the same mistake as the feminists. They see the correlations in the data and assume some kind of deep dark gender bias is at work. Feminists then see this behaviour by the publisher and immediately assume they have detected yet another piece of evidence for the big bad patriarchy. This is why statisticians should be able to veto stupid assumptions being repeated by news media.
