Having spent many years of my life following conspirancies and trying to untangle secrets I just finished this book.
It's so well done and with an inmensive background that keep me thinking that it validates and at the same time mocks all conspiracies. Yet the only way to get its final mesage its by traveling the same maddening road the main character goes.
Truly a masterpiece.

What did you think of this?
I just finished it. It felt really over-written, and the overly abundant historical detail/ramblings slowed down the plot and made it much longer and slower than it should have been.

I really enjoyed Name of the Rose and had high hopes for this, but it was pretty underwhelming.

I barely know anything about this book other than seeing it paired with other "postmodern" stuff, but I had an extremely vivid dream last night where I sat down at a table in an empty room and read it cover to cover. I've taken this as a sign that I should read it next. What am I in for?

Could you tell me where the part is in Foucault's Pendulum, where the narrator has an epiphany of sorts, and realizes that all of the various occultists failed to understand how magic/alchemy was just a metaphor for birth, and his child on the way is what really matters? Or something similar? I can't seem to find it in the book.
