>Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead is the best play ever written by anyone ever.

OP here, haven't read it.

Also, Glass Menagerie. Possibly the best 20th century play I have read. Williams is amazing, I don't care if his name is Tennessee, he's brilliant.

9.8/10

Amazing. Chekhov, Strindberg and Ibsen plays are never as powerful to me as the American plays. Probably because I don't live in 19th century Europe and I can read them in their original language. Okay, maybe they have a big advantage..

Please discuss the final monologue of this play. I'm not sure I understood it to a good degree.

I just read this, and I can't tell what to make of the ending. I don't think I even really understood it. I know this is entry-level for most of you. What did you make of it? I liked the play; I just don't understand what Tom's last monologue really means.

Did that movie (from 1973, I think) follow the script exactly?

How does /lit/ feel about drama? Does it count as literature? What makes a play "literary"?
