I followed this chart and bought the baron in the trees, but on my edition it says “this is part II in the ‘our ancestors’ trilogy”. Why shouldn’t I read the first book in the trilogy to begin with /lit/?

italian literature general, ask whatever

fellow italianbros, started reading literature in italian, my first was Le cosmicomiche, then Castle of the crossed destinies, Il barone rampante, going to start invisible cities and then if on a winter's night traveller. Where do I go to after Calvino? what is the ""next level"" in grammar/vocabulary/writing style? something a bit 'harder' but not too much. Would Eco be too much of a leap, with his medieval and archaic aesthetic/vocabulary/grammar? if not, where to start with him?
accepting any suggestions, entry level poetry, short stories, novels.

Not *too* long ago I was introduced to Girard via a pretty decent summary of his book on Shakespeare and mimetic desire, before that I had read some anon's post which 101d his concept of the scapegoat. Wittgenstein I'm getting interested in lately because of Heidegger and Deleuze.

Joyce I like, Xue likes Calvino so maybe I should check him, is picrel accurate? The greats tire me sometimes, so I've a preference for seeking contemporary authors, experimental writing, interdisciplinary stuff, etc.

The worst place to ask about this book is /lit/, most of the nerds here are so terrified of looking like pseuds they use every meme in the book to prove that they really hate this book and they're right in doing so (not liking the book, mind you, I repeat, 4chan DOES NOT like this shit book)

Just read it, there isn't much like it around.
