I never read these books when I was the target audience, but I saw some posts talking about how good they were. Are they actually worth reading as an adult?

These were actually pretty fun and comfy reads.

I know some of you read every single book.

Like most people I always looked at this series as little more then some 90's nostalgic but as I've looked into the actual plot what the actual fuck is up with this series?
>Five children are forced to engage in guerilla warfare, espionage and repeated murder to protect their loved ones from alien parasites as they wait for the other, heroic aliens to finally arrive. When they do, the “good” aliens turn out to not give a shit about humans, caused the whole intergalactic war through their own shittiness and are willing to exterminate whole planets
>A child in the form of a fly experiences getting splattered and smeared against a ceiling until his friends who are also flies at the time can peel his body off and take him somewhere he can transform back into a whole human before his insect mind fades completely
>The heroes are forced to permanently imprison another child in the body of a rat because he knows too much and they abandon him on a tiny island with only other rats and garbage for company. Rumors circulate that the island is haunted but it’s actually his psychic screams reaching distant boaters.

Can we talk about just what the genuine fuck is up with this series?

I was asked to recommend some series to my little cousin, how does this hold up? I remember really enjoying it, but I'm scared that it was just because I was a tastelet when I was younger.

I'm too old for this board.

If I re-read this series as an adult, am I going to be disappointed?

I also read Narnia and Harry Potter, though those never dominated my life like Animorphs did

A friend and I are learning each others languages and we both feel we are good enough to read kids novels in one another's languages. I'm at about a 3rd grade level and my friend is at about a 5th grade level in English. She is better than me and was able to successfully read some Animorphs books I sent her, but the Hobbit was too difficult.

What are some internationally famous children's novels that have been translated into many languages? The more modern the better. Only thing I can think of is Harry Potter, but I personally didn't find it that interesting as an easy read in English, let alone interesting enough to struggle through in a foreign language.
