The two primary purposes currently are to see reading preferences and compatibility and simply have us together. If you want it to be more, make it so.
While it's not intended to be a replacement for thread discussion, feel free to discuss and do whatever there.
May or may not do some polling, which may or may not be public voting.
It's set to where anyone can do basically anything without being a moderator, aside from kicking members out and deleting the group.
If there are eventually enough members, could try to have public votes to decide which books to put on the bookshelf as the closest possible "official /sffg/ recs".
>>14124437 noted that they would like more actual discussion. I'm not going to personally lead any discussion at this time, but I don't see any reason why those who want to do so can't discuss the Monthly Reading there throughout the entire month if that's their preference.
On a tangentially related note, this is the only outside the thread supplement that I would ever personally create. I've made discord, IRC, etc, for elsewhere before and I don't have any interest in doing so again for personal reasons.
