I'm about halfway through the Eye of the world. When does WOT start to get good? Or at least original, so far its basically the fellowship of the ring (which i love so im fine with) but folks say the series is very different and does its own thing.
I'm at the part where they meet the equivalent of Irish gypsies in the remote woods.

I'm on chapter 40. This is plebby comfy, a Tolkien retread with such obvious telegraphing of upcoming plot "twists". It's also fucking hilarious as even more obvious fan fiction of the author's own romantic obsessions. All the women are bossy and they're all healers--they're mean but make you feel gooooood... Robert Jordan is a total submissive. Which book does the spanking start in?
