If you're using the Internet in the background (research, I swear) or if you are going to do something else on your computer when you're done writing, then it is an issue, because Word doesn't release your memory when it's done with it.

I repeat, Word takes up memory and then hogs it even when you're done with it. Not until you restart your computer is it released. Word is a bloated-ass program that can more quickly slow down computer session. Why the fuck does a word processor need to have RAM usage comparable to Photoshop? Because Microsoft has loaded the program with so many features for any type of conceivable use. Many of these features you'll never use. They are all pretty much useless for writers.

I remember a while back seeing a program that took the immersion concept and ran with it, displaying your text in 3D-rendered letters that would zoom and float off the screen. Looked super-comfy to the max, but a little bit much. 2hipster4me.

Also, why did the naked Asian lady image get removed when there are several threads here already with similar OP images?

Bump. I saw that the last thread died and I'd like to see if there's anything I haven't heard of.

I use Dark Room (probably the most perfect no-frills software) and Open Office. I've dabbled in ZenWriter and FocusWriter but there are little things with both programs that bug me.

I like the immersiveness of OmmWriter, but after downloading Dana II and failing to get it to work right, and after having it crash on me, I abandoned it. I tried to re-install Dana I at the very least but can't get it to work right anymore either (okay.jpg).
