I'm not being sarcastic or ironic in the least bit.
Whitman is fucking gorgeous, even later with that big beard.

>He characterizes prostitution as a “legitimate” “job” “choice” or defends men who purchase prostitutes.

Whitman confirmed for rape-supporter.

Alright folks, because I took too many classes this year... my work piled up. I only have one night to write this essay. I haven't read much of Leaves of Grass yet, so I have no idea what to make my thesis about..

The professor says that the thesis needs to be multifaceted, three small observations that work together to make the central thesis.

So, I know its basically you guys helping me with my homework, but do any of you familiar with the Leaves of Grass have any suggestions that I can make an entire essay out of? I'd rather read the book with the thesis already in mind.

Thanks in advance!

Walt Whitman

Listen! I will be honest with you,
I do not offer the old smooth prizes, but offer
rough new prizes,
These are the days that must happen to you:
You shall not heap up what is called riches,
You shall scatter with lavish hand all that you
earn or achieve,
You but arrive at the city to which you were
destined—you hardly settle yourself to satis-
faction, before you are called by an irresistible
call to depart,
You shall be treated to the ironical smiles and
mockings of those who remain behind you,
What beckonings of love you receive, you shall
only answer with passionate kisses of parting,
You shall not allow the hold of those who spread
their reached hands toward you.

Allons! After the great companions! and to be-
long to them!
They too are on the road! they are the swift and
majestic men! they are the greatest women!
