Anons recommend me fantasy books filled up with lots of anger.
I think that anger is the best emotion that appears in fantasy books. It makes action progress faster because there is zero hesitation and unnecessary analysis which is crucial for a good fantasy book. Let's not fool ourselves that there is a deeper meaning in fantasy books. They're meant to be read fast and provide fun.

>take 300 level creative writing class as part of the major
>have to read tons of shitty stories but there are a few people with talent
>surely the shit will get weeded out in the 500 level class
>get to the 500 level class
>people turn in banal stories about working part time jobs and "normal college life"

I fucked up, fell for the meme, etc. For those who have taken creative writing classes, how do you get through 20 pages of something that is thoroughly uninteresting?

>be English major
>have to take survey classes in literary history, focusing on particular periods of American and British literature
>read fragments of novels
>read shorter novels from great authors that aren't considered their masterpiece due to time constraints
>read only small selections of poetry from the great poets, but never any complete collections and barely any long poems
>read short stories from authors that are primarily notable for their novels

Was it unreasonable for me to expect to read the greatest works of all time as an English major? Am I just a fuckup for not reading these things before becoming an English major?

Why do I continually figure out the most productive and sensible course of action and then immediately do the opposite?

Every time I set up a list if things to do for the day I spend all my time drinking coffee, browsing 4chan, and avoiding work. I feel like I'm constantly falling for the naturalistic fallacy. I get the idea that scheduling stuff is keking myself.

And the ironic thing is that the stuff I schedule is genuinely interesting and rewarding.

Is my predicament a sign of an unparalleled genius unwilling to make the first step unless that step is a flying leap with tonnes of backflips... or is it the sign of a low willpower faggot who will torturously fall in to mediocrity (I suspect the first)?
