Stoicism has its points I suppose, but Epicureanism is the scientific method, and its western-nirvana, a sort of reverse nirvana, lights up my life like no religion or philosophy ever did.
Roman culture was built on the Greek tradition anyway.

I've seen The Fly. That was great as well.

I decided to download A History of Violence as well as Crash. I'll check out Naked Lunch after I read the book.

Thanks for your help

Can anyone reccomend acclaimed Chinese writings? Or perhaps if there is any any authors from the 20th and 21st century authors that are a must read and are in translation, please let me know.

Absolutely, a valid critique.
I took it to mean:
>the last bastion of literary fiction in which philosophical ideas are explored in any real depth.
I have begun writing my own Science Fiction piece, and what worries me is that I too am ignorant of a valid philosophical exploration. I won't post what my idea is here, because it's fucking 4chan and I'm paranoid of plagiarism (as arrogant as that may seem; I sincerely do not believe my ego is that inflated).
I suppose I could consult with some academics on the topic... I think that would be a good idea.
Basically, I want to investigate sex, romance and the preclusion of one or the other through the lens of guilt, memory and trauma. What the fuck am I doing

_"Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you._

I watched with amazement as the glider instructor opened his door and stuck his foot out into the wind, one thousand feet over the ground. My mind raced. Did the examiner think his parachute was safer than the glider? If he jumped, would I have to re-calculate the new center of gravity?

"It kinda acts like a big rudder, doesn't it?" he yelled over the gusts.

Bits of loose paper dislodged themselves from obscure nooks and fluttered around the cabin. The operating limitations made a quick egress through the door while the weight and balance chart plastered itself helpfully against my five-point harness.

"A little." I replied. The glider itself seemed unconcerned by the development. The passenger door was too close to the center of mass to have a real impact on our path.

Besides, I realized, the instructor wasn't planning on skydiving in the middle of a checkride. He was assessing my ability to stay focused with distractions. I ran through the landing checklist. Fortunately, it was bolted to the instrument panel.

I looked over at the grass runway, making sure it was clear of obstructions. We were low enough to see details on the farm below us. Cows grazed peacefully, unaware of the drama unfolding over their heads.

After I had committed to the approach, I broadcasted my intentions via radio:

"FLF, seven-nine whiskey turning left downwind for runway one six."

I posted a short story here and learned /lit/ is really good at shitting on bad writing, which would help me out a lot on my college essay. In fact I think a lot of the feedback I get here is better than what I get from my teachers. But I don't see them getting posted here, so I thought I'd ask:

a) is it a bad idea to just post college essays on 4chan? My topic is pretty obscure, so I doubt anyone could steal it effectively even if they wanted to.

b) would you be willing to help at all?
