Okay, thank god.

If you want something a little complex, there's this book called Gödel, Escher, Bach, it's great for first-timers.

I hate Chuck Palahniuk, not because it's cool to hate him, but because he fucking sucks. His first story was rejected by publishers initially (not knocking him for that, happens to everyone,) for being too disturbing. So he wrote Fight Club out of anger to make something even more disturbing as a way of saying 'fuck you' to the publishers.

Fight Club became a success and now for whatever reason, Palahniuk feels the need to continue one-upping himself to make each story more disturbing than the last. He does it over and over again and people who like to believe they're vampires or whatever flock to this garbage.

I'm not against dark or disturbing material, but having shock value in place of a real story gets old quick.

You'd think a one-trick pony with such a lame and predictable trick would have been put out to pasture by now.
