Someone gifted me this, I think it's really bad but I don't want to offend them and just keep reading.

Is this really bad or am I just a pleb?

So what's the deal with this book? I read it the other day and thought it was pretty mediocre. I've seen it mentioned a few times on here and you guys seem to go mad for it.

It certainly isn't in the same league as 1984 or brave new world. And the guy seems to lose his balls over similes: Montag felt like_______, the parlor was like________, the mechanical hound moved like _______

Yes. I was really impressed by 1984 and this book seems just as interesting and vaguely similar in its prophecy.
