The ground started to split at his feet....

At this very moment he new that life was over. There was no way in hell that he would survive a wound so deep.
He still had so many questions. Not just about life, but about death. What was going to happen, where would he go, would he be mourned, or would he be left here in this spot to decay. Would anyone other than Clair even know he was gone. Would anyone even care. All these questions and more raced through his mind as he stumbled back.
Only one thing was clear, this was it, he failed. The fates were wrong, he wouldn't go on to, as they put it, lead. It was obvious to him that they made a mistake.
He hit the ground, his ears rang with the glass shattering scream that he assumed was Clair. A few seconds went by before she was by his side holding him in her fragile arms, he took what seemed to be his last glance at the night sky. It was almost as beautiful as Clair’s eyes. They radiated brighter then all the stars in the sky. Her words warmed him as she spoke, with such integrity, she truly believed herself. Telling him it’ll all be ok, and that he can make it. The thought sounded nice like he could survive, but he knew his heart would give out any second now. He felt the blood turn so cold as it hit the night air, slowly dripping on to the ground from the hole in his chest. He looked deep into her eyes as he uttered the last “I love you” ,he would ever say. As his eyes slowly, inevitably, and unfortunately shut, the last thing he felt was Clair’s tears hitting his face.
It felt like floating away into nothing. His eyes felt open, but it was dark like they weren’t. All he had was this nothingness all around him. He couldn’t see, feel, or hear anything. The air, if there was any, had no taste. Or at least none that he could taste. There was no ground below him and no sky above him, but somehow he new where he was. For some reason he could just feel it. This was the beginning of all. Then all of the sudden it was gone. Even faster then he left, he came back, standing over Clair, who was still crying with her face buried into his shoulder.
He was still dead. He was a phantom now. Just standing there helpless while all his hopes, dreams, and goals were staring him in the face laughing just out of reach. He screamed in anger and pain. A true yell of sadness and despair. All was lost, and now he was destine to watch from the background silent and unknown. He figured this was his punishment for failing the fates. The ultimate tourtcher, at least for him it is. He was so pissed. How can this happen, it was all to much, he fell to his knees and started to sob.
Something touched his shoulder, witch startled him to his feet. He quickly turned to look at what it was that he felt, then realized not what but who.

Libertarianism is the political philosophy of the future. Communism is obsolete. State capitalism is failing. Any good books along these lines?
