That's the question that keeps me up at night. I did my Bachelor's in English Lit with a minor in Philosophy.

Do I go the safe high school teacher route with an English/History masters and live the rest of my life as a bitter but comfy suburbanite?
Do I risk it all and go for something like Linguistics/Philosophy in order to go after the PhD and eventually the professorship, risking financial ruin and even more bitterness without any of the comfort?

I don't even know if I enjoy academia that much, and I certainly didn't excel enough during my bachelor's to turn any heads. I don't have anything published and I wasn't active in any extracurriculars. I do love learning, and studying something I love at the highest level sounds incredible but I have no idea if I'm cut out for it.

Student, part-time work at a coffee place/full time over the summer

Spoiled by my parents, they pay for my rent and give me 300 a month
