1. Is it true that Paul the Apostle - who is responsible for spreading majority of gospels - never personally knew Jesus and that his teachings are the result of the "revelation" of Christ"? Is the whole christian faith based on visions of a single mortal man?

2. When the bishops (Council of Nicea?) were assembling the Bible they delibrately left out some of the gospels. Why is that and whose judgement they relied on when the created the tenets of christian doctrine?

I fail to see how the bible is supposed to be "le word of god" when it's based on so shaky grounds. I feel like i've been fed jewish lies my whole childhood.
