I have broken up with multiple girlfriends because they wanted sex and I did not. I feel stuck a bit, as a Catholic. I am determined to avoid sex until marriage, because this is what the Church teaches. I have fucked up unending times on avoiding masturbation, but I have still actively resisted sex before marriage and I would like to continue that. At the same time, I keep being attracted to women who are probably not virgins and who definitely are interested in sex before marriage. People say "find a good Christian girl" but so many of them are very boring, and all the really interesting ones seem to already be married to other men. I keep being drawn in by girls who actually are rather compelling, but they all seem to be interested in just fucking right away, which I am definitely not interested in.

Am I just too picky? At the same time, why should I lower my standards?

Rome is going to last longer than the United States as we know it. There are too many people all around the world, millions, tens of millions, hundreds of millions of people, who love it, who are willing to fight for it and die for it. People willing to attack its flaws and fix them.

500 years from now, I am not sure if the United States will still exist in any conceivable form. But I bet the Catholic Church will still exist.

The Church only ever supported Franco BECAUSE of the Republicans. Do you think it they were naive? The Church was never under any illusions about what a monster Franco was. They supported him because they had to choose between two bad options and he was the least bad. The Republicans literally wanted to wipe out the Church in Spain. They were looting and desecrating cathedrals and killing nuns and priests before the war even started. Franco was a choice of necessity.

The three Churches that actually matter (Catholic, Orthodox, Coptic) are literally thousands of years old and for the most part it takes a very long time for new ideas to penetrate their innermost depths. And sometimes when they TRY to change it winds up being a bit of a mess (like the Catholic Church with Vatican 2).

Hopefully, in time, the relevant Churches will properly adjust themselves to the 3rd Millennium. I suspect they will, this won't be the first time a great crisis has rocked Christendom and caught it offguard. But Christendom always manages to recover and thrive, in the end.

The United States has NEVER been a Catholic nation and so the Catholics who tried to "fit in" here are bound to be weirdos as a result of the schizophrenic things they feel.

Meanwhile in Europe in the 20th Century Catholics backed fucking Franco and Salazar. And they didn't have all that big of a problem with Mussolini, either.
