I guess it is wintery at least plus it is all semi-autobiographical short stories/vignettes packed with feels so it is very punchy

>last story I read was about a kindly old camp carpenter who was a priest in civilian life and whose only ray of hope while in the gulag was writing to his daughter who he hadn't seen for 10+ years
>the first letter he gets in return is her officially renouncing him as her father
