I stopped reading IT when one of the main characters describes being in a writing class where the other students' empty pretentious works are overanalyzed as great art while his pure humble genre stories are dismissed as pulp crap.

I imagine there are many different ways you can parody writing classes without it being a huge cliche that everyone in a writing class has already written before. Academics are overanalyzing frauds, what a unique idea. I think Stephen King was already rich, acclaimed, and happy with his life when writing this, so I can't believe he's still wounded from a bad classroom experience. I imagine this episode is just something to pander to readers.

I already thought the book wasn't great but this one part just made me really upset. I imagine people will call me a snob who hates the pulp shit, but that's wrong. I very much enjoy pulp shit when it doesn't care that its pulp shit. It's when pulp shit does crap like this that I get upset.
