I really liked the original Earthsea trilogy and decided to continue and read book 4, Tehanu. Oh boy what a mistake that was. This fantasy series about people in a simple low tech fantasy archipelago suddenly became about rape, sexual violence, gendered violence, and gender power dynamics.

Also, the MC of the first book and arguably the entire trilogy was made a mockery of, as one Goodreads review I saw said "as if Tolkien wrote a 4th LotR book about Gandalf, having lost his power, is teased by a cruel orc, and Gandalf can't do anything about it". And what little Gandalf does do is with the thrusting of farm equipment.

What was Le Guin thinking? Is there any point in continuing the series?
