Fun fact: Dutifully fixating on power relations is not the sign of the liberated individual: it's the sign of the incomplete individual, who hasn't grasped that the lenses of power and meaning are not totally incompatible perspectives, much in the same way an authoritarian or an idealist has not grasped the opposite truth. Power relations affect meaning and affect communication, but they do not take the place of meaning and communication. This fixation on power relations only seems enlightened against an equally childish backdrop of American culture that seemingly denies the existence of various, unpleasant power relations, such as race or class.

Deep and Edgy is the best tripcode user on the board.

Point One: I love the man that names himself! God bless the man that becomes his name!

Point Two: I love the man that transcends names, that becomes a sense-picture of a name, and takes a name just for the decadence!

Point Three: I love the man that knows where he came from, and knows we know, and knows we know he knows we know, etc.

Point Four: God bless the iconoclast, a bug, yes, but that scraps against his Master! For a bug that does as such gets an extra second of attention from his Master, the Lord Jesus Christ, which is worth an eternity in paradise (even if another eternity should follow!).

Point Five: I love the man that is so knowledgeable about having and becoming a name, that this becomes his very name!

Point Six: I love the man that takes a name and thereby raises himself above the slobbering masses of the nameless, but keeps himself at their level when it comes to the snobbery of the name! His name has content, and it is merely an empty signifier for those others, making his the only true name! Those other names are nearly always arbitrary, empty signifiers! Ironically, by rebelling against the construct of a name, he is the only one with any real identity, and yet he still manages to keep the empty signifier there as an artifact, a repast for his semiotic quarry, SIGNIFYING his victory in the most dangerous semantic game.

When you were young
You were the king of carrot flowers
And how you built a tower tumbling through the trees
In holy rattlesnakes that fell all around your feet

And your mom would stick a fork right into daddy's shoulder
And dad would throw the garbage all across the floor
As we would lay and learn what each other's bodies were for

And this is the room
One afternoon I knew I could love you
And from above you how I sank into your soul
Into that secret place where no one dares to go

And your mom would drink until she was no longer speaking
And dad would dream of all the different ways to die
Each one a little more than he could dare to try

Currently reading Infinite Jest, but I'll move on to this as soon as I get done. God is not Great was pretty good as far as anti-theist books go, and the Missionary Position was amazing.

Has anyone read anything else?

I'd do it quite often if it weren't for the fact that I read House of Leaves before Infinite Jest.
