People talk to you a great deal about your education, but some good, sacred memory, preserved from childhood, is perhaps the best education. If a man carries many such memories with him into life, he is safe to the end of his days.

I like this board, its name is /lit/,
Which some suppose, just isn't it,
Although it may be cold and lifeless,
It brings me warmth; how cold my life is.

characters from books that strongly remind us of people from out lives

> The teacher M. Bernard from "The last man" by Camus
Strongly reminded me of my grade school physics teacher who saved me from a future of delinquency, gave me a passion for learning and was the first positive male role model in my life
P.S. he never molested me

Dude, let's critique the core foundation of western civilization, I'm sure that will end up good, I'm sure it wont end up in cultural nihilism and civilizational suicide, lmao.

wait, so you're telling me to become a genius writer I need to simply read a lot of books from the canon, some books (masterpieces) from every major literature movement, some philosophy, some theology, the bible, the koran, learn grammar, learn the rules of jungian storytelling, some basics of economics and political theory, some books on poetrhy and fairy tales and world mythology, some works on oratory and rethoric.
so you're telling me I only need to do that and I can write like shakespeare, right?
so you're telling me I only need to do the previous shit and simply write some fantasy book about space bugs in a war with humans, put some totalitarianism critique using the nazis as the political fantasy military in said book and some alegories of irak, vietnam and syria and then the literary world will be hailing me as his saviour.

really made me think.
wow, what a bunch of fags literature is as an academic field.
