>Japanese narratives don't conform to Western feminist standards of age of consent, I don't like their aesthetics, and they're too cute and suggestive.
That's a very deep analysis of anime tropes, I'm not sure what else there even is to say about Madoka Magicka than that.

What's worse/more schlocky, a ujiversal language fantasy with their own etymology, or a universal language with no etymology? On one hand, calling some thousand year old location "dragon cave" or some shit is incredibly tacky, language evolves and it makes it feel less weighty, like a themepark attraction rather than a real place with historical weight. On the other hand, ancient words also feel tacky if everyone speaks the same language despite acknowledging the evolution of language and the world having borders and isolationist civs.
However at the same time not every story needs or is served by language barriers or the effort invested in unique pseudo languages, so what is the least tacky compromise? You could use real placenames, but it'd send mixed messages
