Woo! Yeah! Pen-pal thread!

Alright /lit/, the last one was fun and I met some interesting people. Let's do it again. As before, some questions to get you started:

> What sort of books/movies/tv/whatever do you like
> Whereabouts are you from
> What are you looking for
> Do you prefer email or snailmail
> Anything else you want to say about yourself

I read everything by authors I like, and look into who they were friends with, who influenced them, and who they influenced, other things written in the same cultural setting (time, place, themes), and go from there.

I currently have a large backlog (77 books currently), so I should slow down and stop buying more for a while.

I endorse this list wholeheartedly. It has a good mix of prose stylists and moralists. It has those concerned with society and those concerned with the soul. If you can't find something from that list that you really enjoy you will probably have a hard time enjoying anything.

Hey /lit/

I'm an undergraduate history student working on a thesis this summer. Over my undergraduate career I've completely devoted myself to studying history and philosophy over the summer. Right now my reading is becoming more and more focused on my thesis and my intended area of concentration for grad school....

I miss reading literature. I love what I'm reading now but I forget what it is like to read non academic works. I'm familiar with the high school and undergraduate canon of literature...do you have any suggestions for me to ease me back into reading?
