Not many people realise this but Wagner was as influenced by Hegel as he was Schopenhauer. He just simply connected with the latter much more personally(because of his depression) and so chose the extroverted structure of that image to "bare-himself-as".

Sure it has its on artistic forms in which it must strive towards, it does however never the works and types of traditional art. And to make it all worse cinema has been birthed and developed in a time of creative void, art departed from all religiousness. As fantastic a film The Godfather may be, it can only be seen as a degeneration.

HAH! No. At all times we achieve the heights of knowledge there is always followed by an eclipse of stupidity. Cinema can be seen as unique degeneration of this[Gesamtkunstwerk]. It has its place sure, but not treated as if it were of equal value. See Triumph of the Will. Cinema relies entirely on Wagner to lead it through its achievements. I remember someone saying that cinematography was that added factor which Wagner was looking for. What a fool he was who said that for he saw a limit of unique ability and thought it was no longer so.
