Any recommended books on the Vietnam War? Interested in general history but also the political spookery involved too (Phoenix Project, Drug Trafficking, Pentagon Papers, Kissinger etc.)

Only wandering minds suffer. No raw experience is bad on its own.

People may be scared of death in general, but some persons overcome their fear of death. In fact, we probably could not do great things if such a thing were not possible.

You made a claim that a particular person, Heidegger, was terrified of death. But where is the evidence? All you have are baseless claims that you're not willing to substantiate.

> You can not think yourself out of pain

Not think per-se, but you actually can just be indifferent to pain.

> everyone is a hedonist in that they pursue pleasurable stimuli and try to avoid harmful stimuli.

Nope. There is a third force, other than reason and desire.

It's only an illusion. If only you would realize you are awareness, and not your thoughts or whatever your body feels, you would be instantly liberated.

Not just our age amigo.... it’s a niche for the Enlightened ones ( the ones who’ve “read it all” or all that’s worth reading) who haven’t killed themselves yet. Try researching Hinduism, Christian mysticism, and 16th mystics for a cursory understanding of how all encompassing and complex the works of some of these mystics is. Hinduism, bro the men of the East understood it all thousand of years ago.

Think about it this way all biographies of western great thinkers will reveal a multitude of faults and vices in their character... unlike the great minds of the East that live and lived much more pious lives than any western Christian male.

And please don’t associate pic related with that garbage, shit middle school tier band

Yeah, only Christians are strong enough to hold onto their beliefs in the face of death

>What do you read/internalize to combat this fear if it completely rids your mind of anything other than wanting a painless exit?

Mastering Asana gets rid of Anatomy-consciousness. Scratching, heat, etc. supposedly involuntarily movements, even sharp pain can be mastered. Some Buddhist monk who immolated themselves did not move while burning alive. This is the strength of will.
Mastering Pranayama gets rid of Physiological consciousness.
Practice Yama and Niyama get rid of Ethical consciousness.
Pratyhara gets rid of the Objective.
Dharana gets rid of the Subjective.
Dhyana gets rid of the Ego.
Samadhi gets rid of the Soul Impersonal.

Asana destroys the static body (Nama).
Pranayama destroys the dynamic body (Rupa).
Yama destroys the emotions. (Vedana).
Niyama destroys the passions.
Dharana destroys the perceptions (Sanna).
Dhyana destroys the tendencies (Sankharas).
Samadhi destroys the consciousness (Vinnanam).

This is the sort of literature you are looking for, not some feel-good books that make you forget your existential dread for 5 minutes.
