I really enjoyed this series when I was younger, along with Warriors (forgive me, I never knew about the rabid fanbase), Silverwing and GOAT Redwall.

I guess the idea of animals and very dark themes really interested me.

Did anyone else find Firewing to be incredibly horrifying for a child to read?
>Main protagonist's son is kind of a pansy, who accidentally kills his best friend via immolation
>Both father and Son are dragged to literal Hell
>Inferno-esque descriptions of torture
>Motherfuckin Dante hanging out in Hell
>The book ends with the Villain winning and escaping hell to plan domination, and the hero's son/son's friend barely escape at the cost of Shade's soul
