Just wanted to let you know that.

He made some nice money with his works. Can't say that I speak for all of /lit/ but I love Tolstoy.

You know why I loved War and Peace? Because it was so goddamn easy to read. Sure, my copy was like 1455 pages long and it took me about 70 days to read it, but every moment of reading it was just absolutely great. There no were points in that book where I felt as though I was trudging through or that the characters were being boring. What I loved about it was the characters, I loved them all, they all felt so real to me and I could connect with the emotions of each of them. Whenever Tolstoy would describe the way a person felt about something, or the general feeling in the air around a crowd of people, I could instantly understand what he was saying and feel it myself.

So really, I don't see why it's "pretentious" to read War and Peace, because it's not some high brow piece of literature. It's a soap opera! But it's the greatest soap opera ever written!
