/lit/ - Literature

Hey /lit/, I really enjoyed the more realistic sci-fi combat in this book (most of it run by computers, tactical manouevers being based on lasers and nukes, taking only nanoseconds), always bothered me when battles in the far future would be decided by large conventional armies like in starship troopers.

Also enjoyed having one guy go through multiple iterations oh humanity. Any recommendations?

Hey /lit/, need a new book, do not want to waste money on something i'm not gonna be able to love and read for a long time, last book i read was "the wise mans fear" by Patrick Rothfuss and i really enjoyed it, mostly because its long as fuck and superbly written. Looking for some sort of fantasy sci-fi, big Alastair Reynolds and PKD fan as well. all suggestions welcome. Something with a sense of poetic beauty with a rockin' female protagonist would be a real plus. Much love

So what does /lit/ think of this beauty? I'm re-reading it as of today. I just love the way Haldeman writes, it seems to conjure up the imagery in my head so easily. I've also heard Ridley Scott is making a film of it.

Also, SF masterworks appreciation.

Recently a friend of mine told me to read a book he taught was good, and after i read it i got into science fiction books. The book i was talking about is "The Forever War" by Joe Haldeman. I also read forever peace and forever free. Now i am reading the Ender - Saga, i am at book 3 - Xenocide.

I wanted to ask you what you think of the books mentioned above and if you could provide more warlike sci-fi books for me. thanks.
