I'm looking for writing advice.
I want to write a thinly fictionalised account of one particular summer holidays when i was young.
I was finishing school in late 2007 had University booked for next year but i wasn't really enthusiastic about it. My parents were boring upper middle class wankers from the nice suburbs of Melbourne. Believed in education and progress and what not.
Anyway school finished and we went on holidays to a place called Port Macquarie for the summer with my aunts, uncles and cousins. I was painfully aware that this was basically my last summer as a kid. I was going to University soon and would be expected to start a career and all that bullshit.
One of my cousins was a girl same age as me, let's call her Tracey, she was a wild child into drugs and shit. She had actually failed her exams to the shock and disgust of everyone in our family.
Her and I basically spent the entire summer holiday together sneaking away from our parents and smoking weed and eventually she took my virginity.
How do i tell that story properly? How do i make it into a novel? Are there similar novels i could read to get an idea of how to make it work?
