Pre-picrel Nietzsche was unfathomably based. Picrel Nietzsche was okay, but he really should've gone to Copenhagen to read Kierkegaard. It's best not to talk about post-picrel Nietzsche.

Anybody here studied the Genealogy?
I'm starting a 7 week reading group and we are free to choose a translation.
Got started on the Kaufmann translation but feeling that I think I will disagree on his general aim of dissociating the continuity between schliermacher, through nietzsche, to the positivists. is this naive of me? I've not really read nietzsche at a higher level before other than some preselected short excerpt readings.

Anyway general Nietzsche thread.

>Finnegan's [sic] Wake
As each art deteriorates and degenerates due to the gradual abandonment of laboriously invented and refined conventions (which, contrary to popular belief, do not restrict an art but on the contrary create, refine, and help it flourish — the reason bunglers find conventions "restrictive" is because they lack the training and discipline required to adhere to them and the talent and creativity to add to (i.e. further complexify) and/or modify them), we find in every field the same movement: a regression to previous, in many cases even primitive critical standards. Moreover, at the same time as standards collapse the number of aspiring artists increases (indeed, as we have seen, it is this very increase that leads to the collapse, the two movements unfolding simultaneously once the masses have been "emancipated" and the means of artistic creation become widely available), whilst the resulting artworks come to increasingly resemble a repulsive junk- and rubbish-soup that no one in their right mind would want to have anything to do with.

So can we safely call Fight Club a worldview arising from slave morality?

Dear /lit/,

I am about to embark on the journey that is reading Heidegger's "Being and Time". I know that his language is very abstract, confusing and even complicated. This book is considered one of the most important publications of the 20th century and I want to find out for myself why that is.

Do you have any tips? Should I annotate? Write a brief layman's terms summary after each page? Should I meditate? Is there another book I should read as a pre-requisite for Sein und Zeit? Should I use a reading guide in tandem?

Picture perhaps related

Does Nietzsche's On the Genealogy of Morals feature a lot of ''racialist'' ideas ? Or are they just brief mentions ?
