i actually ordered my copy of blood meridian from abroad because the UK cover is so much more aesthetic than every available US cover imo.

This book was so shit and I hate you all for telling me to read it. Nothing but edge.

So who or what was the Judge? It feels to easy to just pass him off as "the devil"

What did he mean by this?

Shit, people weren't kidding about the violence in this, everything is so ugly in this book (and I'm loving it).

Hey /lit/, I'm a high school teacher who has assigned my kids (advanced, talented and gifted) Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. I have to give a final on it, and am at a loss for thought provoking essay topic. Any ideas for a question that would be difficult, yet rewarding?

So I just finished reading Blood Meridian, it was fine, but I have some question about the ending

1. What did the Judge do to the kid in the outhouse?

2. Was the Judge a supernatural being?

3. What did the epilouge mean?

Is the Kid meant to be the reader? When Holden says that he alone held clemency for the heathen, was it meant to reference us as the observer? I only ask because the kid's opinion and participation aren't alluded to enough to make this distinction, is it? At what point can the kid's actions be seen in this way?

Does Judge Holden kill us as the observer?

I'm currently reading "Blood Meridian" and just read the Comanche scene. Pretty cool so far, I think, but is it worth reading on?
Also, what's with the fragmented b.s. in the beginning of each chapter?
