The way I dissected Tim and Eric:
> Tim is more a musician than a comedian.
> Eric is more a filmmaker than a comedian.

In the very few times they are interviewed somewhat out of character (always when alone), you can peak into their personalities. While hanging out, they talk and make each other laugh. Similar to Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld's discussions, a funny premise that comes up in conversation would be written down. Now, LD & JS would delve further into that idea. Pull it apart, expand pieces, and work into a show. Tim and Eric would just let it be. They didn't go into the joke. No enriching.

In my opinion, their sketches are one simple joke that has just enough development to justify the time length. The music that goes with it (Tim) and video effects utilized (Eric) are the specialties. The sketches don't have to be clever or well fleshed out. This approach is what gives their bits the "bizarre aura".

What really gets me though... I swear I've stumbled upon the actual, real-life personal that Tim imitates. There is the fishing-guru (no pkmn joke intended) that has had his own cable access show for years. He is on YouTube. I've stumbled upon his channel a while back. Guys, he is Tim's onscreen persona to the T. Even to the Family Guy half-closed eyes and dazed look. His verbal structuring, his non-verbal gestures, and head movements. I wouldn't be surprised if Tim is either genetically related or saw this guy once. My only memory of his YouTube channel was fishing videos in the Susquehanna River. I believe Tim is from PA; he's made jokes about the "depressed german mindset" in the people who live outside the major cities. Growing up in rural PA, 100% true. I really believe Tim's entire bit is from this one fishing guy.
