In one of his essays, Anthony Burgess says that the job of a writer is to dramatize with words in order to discover the essence of reality.

Something dramatic is defined as striking in appearance and effect.

Sci-Fi dramatizes reality in order to strike a chord in the reader and carry its message more strongly.

Ergo, Sci-Fi is the essence of writing, i.e. the core of literature at its liveliest.

Deal with it.

Complete disregard from social conventions IS the source of all wisdom. However, when that disregard is identified, coped by the mainstream, is "sold" in conveniently packaged formulas, properly sanitized, it becomes the mainstream and disregarding those new conventions becomes the new goal in the pursuit of wisdom.

henceforth, wisdom is not a static goal but an ever changing swimming against the flow of societal existence.

Discuss.

Ok c/lit/ I just got myself "Screenwriting for Dummies", since all I have ever written in my life is poetry and short stories, and I am ready to write the most awesome movie ever.

Do you recommend going for the plain writing first and then adapt into a screenplay, or should I go straight into the screenplay?

Basically, it's a think piece about a mid-level band struggling with their own limitations in the harsh face of stardom.

Get those dollars ready to splash ticketmaster!

Not really. I am not arguing with the dude. I am legitimately placing a veil of doubt over his production as it is demonstrated that he was not good in his head.

And it is aimed at young, lost and gullible minds who worship a person whose intellectual production came from a head with demeaded cognitive capabilities.

Fact.
