I really wish I could say Higurashi. It had such a good premise and idea but by the end it had too many tropes to be salvaged.

I unironically think that Attack on Titan would have been Hunger Games or even Harry Potter tier if it had been written by an English author without any retarded anime tropes. The world is absolutely PERFECT for the YA scene. Dystopian world, teenagers saving the day, characters are in an institution so there can be pubescent drama, Hogwarts House-like categorizations, le rich people are evil fitting in so naturally. Just remove all the stupid shit about retarded naruto magic letting people turn into titans and it would 100% would have been a bombshell YA classic.

Masturbation King Kurosawa is definitely one of the most /lit/-tier manga and everyone should read it. It literally changed my life.
