Why do people worship him? He always talks about his beloved city. Why should I be interested in his small medieval city? And it's not even fun to read Divina Commedia, unlike Decameron.

If Dante supposedly read so little books, how did he managed to write such a tale like The Divine Comedy?

More influential than the Bible. His depiction of Hell is literally everyones depiction of hell and nobody can even tell you what hell is like according to the bible. It's all Dante

I just spent six months reading a Shakespeare play every week, reading Bloom's commentary in the Invention of the Human, and writing my own commentary on the play afterwards. (One act ever weekday, Bloom on Saturday, writing on Sunday) and I want to do the same for all these texts:

>The Divine Comedy (Already read but wanna read in Italian after I'm fluent enough)
>Paradise Lost (Also already read but didn't engage with any criticism or write any thoughts)
>Moby-Dick
>Ulysses (Same as Paradise Lost)

What are the best books to use as companions to these four? I don't mind if the commentary on Dante is in French or Italian because I have the first and am learning the other. Any answers appreciated.

Why are so many African-Americans named after Dante?
